Empowering Communities and Embracing Sustainability: Regenerative X's Batang Ai Initiative

In the lush heartland of Batang Ai, Lubok Antu, a remarkable transformation is underway. Regenerative X (RXA), in collaboration with esteemed partners, has embarked on an inspiring journey to empower local communities at Nanga Stapang Longhouse and champion sustainability. With the unwavering support of Environmental Sustainability Governance (ESG) Malaysia, AFN Resources Sdn Bhd, E-Novation Solution Sdn Bhd, and ME Info Media Sdn Bhd, alongside key representatives from Sarawak Forestry and community leader Mr. Surai Abell, RXA's inaugural program stands as a testament to the power of collective action.

One of the program's pivotal activities is tree planting. In the heart of Batang Ai's breathtaking landscapes, two Musang King durian tree seedling were planted at Nanga Stapang Longhouse as a  symbol of hope and a commitment to a greener future. This initiative sends a powerful message that climate change mitigation starts at the grassroots level.

RXA's commitment to sustainability extends beyond the physical act of planting trees. The program also featured engaging climate change awareness talks and informative ESG briefings. These sessions served as a platform for knowledge exchange, fostering a deeper understanding of the pressing global issues we face, including climate change and its far-reaching impacts. Nature walks are an integral part of the program, allowing participants to reconnect with the environment. Amidst the lush surroundings of Batang Ai, participants explored the natural beauty of the region, gaining a firsthand appreciation of the importance of preserving our natural heritage.

Beyond environmental initiatives, RXA's program embraced the spirit of giving. Used clothes and toys were shared with the longhouse community, symbolizing the value of compassion and community support. This gesture underscores the program's holistic approach to community engagement.

A highlight of the program was the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the local cooperative and AFN Resources Sdn Bhd. This partnership signals the beginning of a dynamic collaboration aimed at exploring opportunities in carbon credit research, agroforestry, eco-tourism, education and awareness workshops, all set to unfold on approximately 10,000 hectares of Native Customary Rights (NCR) land. It's a visionary plan that aims to uplift the economy of Batang Ai, Lubok Antu, while fostering environmental stewardship. The program culminated in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Regenerative X Association and Environmental Sustainability Governance (ESG) Malaysia. This MoU solidifies a shared commitment to common goals and collaborative endeavors in the realm of sustainability.
